Richard Courtenay, Position #9, 52mm, lead, Arnould d' Audrehem.


This #9 has very rare heraldry, it belongs to Arnould d' Audrehem who was captured by James Audley at the battle of Poitiers. It's on a prewar black base making it over 60 years old. In excellent condition with movable arm w/ ax.

Pre-war (Black Base) miniature in very good condition (considering that the miniature is over 70 years old).  Has a movable sword arm. Shows slight chips on shield paint.

Courtenay Casting, position # 2 , 50mm pewter, Heraldry of Sir John Blancminster, 2 moveable arms.


Again I Have no idea who painted the following nicely copied miniature Knight, however it's a good addition to a diorama display of 50mm knights.. Paint is like new with a protective felt on underside of base. These were not intended to deceive collectors as the blue painted bases and felt bottoms clearly would alert any Courtenay Fan to their origin.(SEE PHOTO BELOW comparing to a REAL COURTENAY #18 Billman.)


Copy of Courtenay's Position #2 pose. Purchased a group of these at the LLoyd Ralstoy Dec. 2002 Auction. Very good paint and excellent condition.(Last photo shows the copy next to an original Courtenay from my collection!

Courtenay, position # 2 , 50 mm pewter, Sir Edward Wauncy with battle ax.

Another Very early miniature of one of Courtenay's first poses, the #2. Purchased this at the Lloyd Ralstoy Dec. 1999 Auction.


Very good paint and excellent condition for a prewar # 8 miniature. Both arms of this miniature are movable.

Remember this very determined looking miniature knights is over 70 years old!

Very nice miniature of one of Courtenay's # Z-2 poses. Very nice with movable visor and title on underside of the base.
Very good paint and excellent condition of a hard to find Z position with rare heraldry of the Grand Master of the Hospitallers . One of three Z-2 in my collection!

Courtenay, position #10 , 50 mm pewter, Sir John de Grderne with Nasal helm.


A pre-war piece easily identified by the black base. These are getting harder to find because I suspect of their Doran like quality.

Courtenay, position Archer, 50 mm pewter, Archer in Livery of England


Very good paint and Excellent Condition. Courtenay, position # Marching Man-at-Arms , 50 mm pewter, Billman in Black Prince Livery.


A pre-war piece easily identified by the black base, in excellent condition & paint! Miniature has a working movable arm. Courtenay  position # 14 , 50mm pewter, Heraldry of Sir John Killigrew.


A very rare coat-of arms on a #14 action pose with movable visor. Paint is in excellent condition, except for a chip on the top corner of the shield. Very delicately painted double headed Eagle is beatifically done by Courtenay as is the face!

This is an early miniature and came from the collection of of a prominent US collector.

Original Courtenay with excellent paint in very nice heraldry. Black base indicates that this is a pre-WWII miniature. The knights armor is a little rough, but overall a very nice early figure.

Courtenay, position # H 6 , 50mm pewter, Mounted Edward, "The Black Prince" with battle ax.


Very Rare miniature of one of Courtenay's early mounted poses. Purchased this at the LLoyd Ralston Auction in Dec. 2000 .  Excellent paint and condition, for a 70= year old miniature. One of two in my collection! Heraldry is crisp and hard to find!  This is one of the mounted figures that Richard Courtenay is best known for!

Courtenay, position # Crusader  , 50 mm pewter, King Richard I


Courtenay's Crusader figure was generally painted in the colors of the Hospitallers or Templar knights. On request he would paint this figure in other heraldry. In excellent condition with perfect paint! The Crusader figure is very similar to the position # 19 casting with the exception that the sword is not attached to knights head!  See Greenhill "HMK" page 42 for additional information and photos of modifications. Courtenay Position #7, 50mm pewter, Sir John De Vere Earl of Oxford


Excellent paint on an one of the knights that shared in the capture of King Jean of France at Poitiers!

This is one of the best I have seen with crisp heraldry! The #7 position knights are getting hard to find in good condition without a broken battleax. See the book "A Collection of Courtenay" by John Gillatt pages 82-84 for more photos of the poses of the # 7 by Courtenay.

Courtenay Position #9, 50mm pewter, Thomas Earl of Warwick


Very nice paint on an early Thomas Earl of Warwick. These are getting hard to find. Black base indicates pre WWII miniature that is about 80 years old! This miniature was repaired with a modified sword!!!

Courtenay Position #9, 50mm, pewter, Sir Henry Percy "Hotspur", with movable ax


Another Very nice example on an early Courtenay miniature. All original with very good paint & heraldry of the famous knight Henry "Hotspur" Percy! Again a black base indicates a pre WWII miniature! Note that some wear to heraldry painted on shield!

Courtenay Personality figure, Nell Gwynne. 50mm on blue base


Very Good condition considering the miniature is 50 or 60 years old! Small paint chip to back of shoe & one arm. Everyone has heard of Nell Gwynne, even if people don't know who exactly she was they mostly know she was an orange seller and an actress. In fact, Nell Gwynne was much much more than that, she was one of the first actresses in England and one of the finest Comediennes, and she caught the eye of King Charles II. And the rest as they say is history!

Courtenay ,Position Marching #10, 50mm pewter, Sir John de Dider Esquire to The Black Prince at Crecy,


Very Rare unusual Courtenay Heraldry not seen in any major collections. Over the years I have seen many #10'a and Courtenay miniatures but have never seen this particular coat-of-Arms. Sir John died at the Battle of Crecy fighting as part of the retinue of the Black Prince.

Courtenay, Position #17 Knight of the Garter, Pewter, 48mm, Sir Roger Mortier w/movable shield


This is one of the oldest pieces that I have had in my collection of Courtenay miniatures. Purchased at the London show in the early 90 from the Nod Falkner collection, a nice example in near mint condition! Knight was a founding member of the Knights of the Garter (KG) the  first series of the Knights of Agincourt by Courtenay, pre war and hard to find in the marketplace!

A very nice Courtenay early production miniature knight (1930's) from a group of standing Knight’s & Spearmen. Has original Courtenay painting with some paint loss on the shield.

Very nice early miniature with great heraldry in Courtenay’s distinct painting style. Very good actions pose of this German knight in battle. This one was acquired at the London Toy Soldier Show in 2010.

Early Courtenay mounted miniature with the only banner that I have ever seen with the Black Raven on the reverse side of the flag. (I have 20+ Joan's in my collection.)
