Courtenay Castings & Copies Painted
By Other Unknown Artists
Courtenay Casting, position # 18 Modified , 50mm pewter, French Crossbowman .
Have no idea who painted the following nicely copied miniature French Crossbowman however it's a good addition to a diorama display of 50mm knights.. Paint is like new with a protective felt on underside of base. These were not intended to deceive collectors as the blue painted bases and felt bottoms clearly would alert any Courtenay Fan to their origin.(SEE PHOTO BELOW comparing to a REAL COURTENAY #18 Billman.)
Very Rare miniature of one of Courtenay's early #18 poses. Purchased a group of these at the LLoyd Ralstoy Dec. 2002 Auction. Very good paint and excellent condition of a hard to find #18 miniature. One of Eight in my collection!
See page 40-41 in Peter's "Heraldic Miniature Knights" book for more information & photo! Also check out the book
